The Pelican Project

You can almost smell the used bookstore smell through the screen.

Though this online collection of book covers is not new – it’s been up for years – it is still stellar.  things magazine has photographed a near-comprehensive collection of Pelican trade paperbacks and cataloged them by year, creating a glorious snapshot of book cover design from the 1930′s to the 1980′s.

things magazine was originally founded in 1994 by a group of writers and historians based at the Victoria & Albert Museum/Royal College of Art in the belief that objects can open up new ways of understanding the world.
